See working windmills and centuries-old houses
3.5 hour tour
Your pass gives you access to many more attractions in Amsterdam, so don't forget to check them out

Begin your tour in a comfortable, air-conditioned single-deck bus as it journeys 20-30 minutes outside the city to Zaanse Schans. This windmill village is an open air museum, home to a collection of working windmills, wooden houses, barns and shops dating back to the 18th and 19th Century.
All these buildings were brought here from 1961 onwards, bringing life back to this formally prosperous area of the Zaan region. In its golden age, the Zaan Region developed into an industrial area on a scale never seen before, with 600 active windmills: wooden factories powered by wind. These small factories oversaw many tasks including sawing wood by machine, grinding spices, pressing oil for food and paint, producing flour, cocoa powder and much more.
Discover the prosperity of the 18th and 19th Century as you explore beautiful houses, originally built as homes for rich windmill owners and merchants. Explore the beautiful facades of these opulent houses that have been painted in traditional colors such as green, beige and light blue.

Upon arrival, your guide will take you on an orientation tour of the village - visit the Clog Museum, wooden shoemaker shop and taste delicious and traditional Dutch cheese in the cheese farm. Enjoy exploring the village at your own pace, learning all about the village's history, local culture and unique character.
