What To Expect

Wadi al-Mujib The Siq trail is graded as an easy-to-moderate, roughly 1.25-mile (2 kilometer) route through the canyon, suitable for a self-guided trek. On arrival, go throw the visitor centre at Mujib Bridge, and either follow the trail independently, or the driver accompany you. Admire the canyon, with its sandstone cliffs towering above the river bed, and take the cantilevered walkway over the dam. Then, follow the river as it weaves between the rock walls, absorbing the tranquillity and timeless scenery. Depending on seasonal rainfall levels, you may need to walk through the river shallows and pools — some at waist-height — as you head upstream; all welcome chances to cool off. There are also two or three places where you’ll need to climb up rocks using metal ladders or ropes, or scramble over boulders. After about an hour, arrive at the waterfall at the canyon end. Admire the 59-foot (18-meter) cascades, take a rest, and if you wish, swim in the natural rock pool.

King Abdullah Mosque

The blue-domed King Abdullah I Mosque, built in the 1980s by the late King Hussein as a memorial to his grandfather, is open to Non-Muslim visitors. The nave with an area of 1,615 m2 has the capacity to house 3,000 worshippers. It is octogonal and distiguished for not having pillars inside. Its dome of 35 m in diameter has a height of 31 meters. A source of radiation was placed in the middle taking the form of a golden star culminating in the Ninety Nine Most Beautiful Names of Allah surrounding the dome's neck. The suspended chandelier of 168 lanterns consists of three circles with the Holy Quranic Verse with the word Allah recurring on every lantern. The fertile land is expressed in the form of a red carpet made of an ornamental textile of recurring patterns meant to direct worshippers toward the Kiblah. All the walls, including the Kiblah, the pulpit, and the Mihrab are panelled with wooden and marble oriels.

Jabal al-Qala is one of the seven mountains of Amman, which the Ammonians have long taken as the seat of their rule in the city, followed by Greece, romans and Byzantines who occupied the city respectively until it was occupied by the Islamic conquest in the 7th century AD, where the Umayyad Palace was built on its top. Mount Qalaa in Amman emerged as the capital of the Ammonians.

Roman Theatre

The Roman Amphitheatre is a Roman theater located in the eastern part of the Jordanian capital Amman, precisely at the foot of Mount Jufa on one of the hills opposite Amman Castle. Head towards Jerash and delve into its rich history as you explore its colonnaded streets, hilltop temples, amphitheater, public squares, plazas, and temples. Jerash is one of the best preserved classical sites; a rich and prosperous Greek and Roman city. It was founded by Alexander the Great around 331 BC, it later became one of the great Decapolis cities of the east. It is also a Bronze settlement where you can find the Temple of Artemis, the Forum, the oval plaza, as well as Hadrian’s Arch. Learn about the city and how it rose with a Greek federation, and then lived through the Muslim and Christian rule, which eventually fell during the Crusades.

Ajlun Castle(Qala'at ar-Rabad)

Proceed to Ajloun and visit the Ajloun Castle; a 12th Century fortress built by the forces of Saladin against the Crusaders. It was built to dominate the 3 major passages into northwest Jordan. The structures, towers, chambers, galleries, and staircases that form part of the town, as well as the beautiful scenery that surrounds the hills nearby, will captivate you for sure. Climb into the tower and look around to take in the historical atmosphere and delve into the picturesque views of the Jordan Valley to the Dead Sea.

Archaeological Museum of Umm Qais

Later on, drive towards Umm Qais; one of the most stunning Greco-Roman cities. Learn about the ruins of the Decapolis city of Gadara, now known as Umm Qais. This place is stunning due to the contrast and juxtaposition of the Roman Ruins with the abandoned Ottoman-era village. Take in the breathtaking views from an extraordinary vantage point, with views of 3 countries; Jordan, Syria, and the Israel and Palestinian Territories. According to the Bible, it is the site of the famous miracle of the Gadarene swine; when Jesus cast down the demons out of 2 men into a herd of pigs.
